I get about zero actual comments here, but about one spam posting a day. None of these see the light of day, but I see them, and recently I’ve noticed a trend toward flattery in blog spamming. For example, I’ve recently received these friendly comments:

“Incredible, that’s definitely what I was scanning for! This article just spared me alot of work. I’ll make certain to put this in good use!”

“congrats on having a successfull amazing lookin blog.. I wish I could write like you man.. seriously”

“Hello this post is nice and good. Can you tell me any related articles?”

“Very entertaining post – Might be aged news, but it was news to me.”

“Valuable blogpost and awesome design you got here! I would like to thank you for sharing your ideas and time into the stuff you post!! Thumbs up”

Or, there are these gems:

“Good day in your opinion are north korea and south korea going to be at war”

“Thanks to the author for taking his clock time on this one.”

I’m really not sure what that last one is supposed to mean. I guess it is computer generated. Oh how I miss the good ‘ol days of “Want to make her happy? Click here to grow your member in just 2 weeks!”.

I’d just like to point out that if you search for “electric clipper” on google images, there is a picture of me with a hole in my hair on the first page. Woohoo! But, if you add an ‘s’, I am lost in obscurity.

100 Billion Bank Notes

Zimbabwe introduces $100 billion banknotes

According to CNN that’s worth about $1 USD. According to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe it is more like $4. But, that was yesterday. Expect it to be significantly less tomorrow. You can buy the slightly older $50 billion notes on ebay for like $60! I kind of want one, but not for more than $20. I may wait for the $1 trillion version (although, they might not have any paper left to print those).

This guy is hilarious! This is either some sort of joke, or he is completely nuts. In any case, an interesting sermon on the KJV phrase: “I will destroy him that pisseth against the wall.”

Eavesdropping in Panera

Mary and I have a weekend tradition: we go to Panera for lunch, she does her stats homework, I read or work on something else. Sometimes, maybe, I accidentally overhear other conversations going on. Like the quote above. There you have it: Belly dancing is great for the soul (if not for toning your behind).

Ron Paul wins longest limo competition?

Simi Valley, where I work, is home to the Reagan Presidential Library where the republican debate was held this Wednesday. It seems Dr. Paul (or at least a large contigent of his supporters) was staying at the hotel down the street from my work, because in addition to several smaller vehicles, I saw the what was probably the longest limo I’ve ever seen plastered with Ron Paul propaganda. Of course, I don’t know this was actually the man’s limo; it could have been a really enthusiastic supporter, but I doubt it.

The license plate: “Big Star”. Unfortunately, it was dark, so the pictures didn’t come out so good, but here it is:

Cell Phone Required to Pee in Finland

In an effort to curb vandalism at roadside rest area, the Finish Road Administration has implemented a new locking system on toilets and showers at some of these facilities. In order to unlock the door, users must send an SMS message containing the word “OPEN” to a special number listed on the door. The hope is that any potential vandals will think twice knowing their number is on record.

Sucks if you really have to go, and don’t have your phone! Apparantly 96% of Finlanders (Finlandeans? People of Finland?) have cell phones (They are home to Nokia, after all). But, what if your battery is dead?
