We went to Gold Reef city on saturday (July 12th). Gold Reef city is a casino/hotel an amusement park, and is also home to the Apartheid Museum. We visited all three this weekend. I don't have any pictures of the casino or the Museum, but I have a few of the amusement park.

Some guys in hard hats putting on a show while we ate lunch at the Gold Reef City amusement park. There were actually some dancers too, but I didn't get a picture of them.

A train that drove around the park, and some peacocks. There were peacocks just wandering around on the street.

Gold Reef city is built on top of an old gold mine (hence the gold mining theme), and they take tours down into the mine shaft. Here is Sarah, Kerri and Dr. Hobson in hardhats after we came up from the tour. If you want to have a party in Jo'burg, there is a pub down in the mine that can be hired out for private parties. I thought that was cool.

That metal structure to the left of the ferris wheel is called the tower of terror. Unfortunately, it was the only ride we had time to ride, but it was great. Basically, you ride up the tower in a mining car, and then they hang you over the edge and eventually drop you straight down into a hole in the ground.

A closer picture of a car taking the drop.
